Shonna Hines came to the Personal Training staff at CBRC last February 2009 at the weight of 234 hoping to lose a few pounds. Her journey began by training with a personal trainer and working out 7 days a week. She felt that by working out every day she would keep soreness away, but has since been convinced that taking a day off would be wise. By September of this past year she had reached 159 lbs and has been able to maintain that since. Her starting body fat percentage was over 40% and has now dropped down to 19%. Shonna went from a size 22 pants to a 6, and from a 3x shirt size down to a medium! Besides losing a ton of inches, she has gained a newfound confidence and mentality that will stick with her forever. Losing weight and gaining strength has kept her healthy all year and has allowed her to build her massage therapy work load by 60%, which prevented her business from hiring another therapist. She eats real food outside of protein drinks and bars, eats no wheat, drinks no alcohol, eats a lot of fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats and water. Having a Personal Trainer has opened her eyes to a whole new science about the body and about nutrition and dietary intake. She learned that keeping a food journal will help make sure that you are eating enough of the right foods. Half way through her weight loss, she had to be coached into eating more food to build muscle. This was difficult mentally but she ended up losing weight which was a huge hurdle for her to overcome. Her goal for this next year is to sculpt her body more with the hope of a flat stomach and a raised booty. She would love to start cross country skiing again, dancing more often, swimming and water skiing. She feels young again and is so grateful for the support of the CBRC Personal Training staff!
